The AAAS Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award is an annual award, funded by an endowment established through a generous bequest from Martin L. Wachtel, which honors early-career investigators who have performed outstanding work in the field of cancer research.
This year's winner is Álvaro Quintanal-Villalonga, an Assistant Attending Biologist and Lab Co-director at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Quintanal Villalonga will deliver his lecture titled "Understanding plasticity as a mechanism of resistance to therapy in cancer" at the National Institutes of Health, Lipsett Amphitheater and via livestream on August 16, 2024 from 12:00pm - 1:15pm EDT with a luncheon reception to follow in the FAES Terrace for in-person attendees. The award-winner's essay will be published in Science Translational Medicine the week of the award ceremony.
